Women in Islam
Yes, women are treated unequally in Islamic societies encircling the earth and in some cases much inhumanly. A Muslim common once sent 15000 rape victims to jail and freed the rapists. However to affirm that its since of the basic tenets of Islam is incorrect. Many religions like Christianity, Hinduism, Judaism and much Buddhism award an inferior status to women. Christian orthodoxy sets a very particular code of conduct for women and expects them to behave in just that path. Hindus much went as far as to constitute it compulsory for a woman to burn herself alive with her husband if her husband died before her, this was called sati. Buddhists consider women impediments on the path to enlightenment and so on. However none of these cultures treat women as terrible as the Islamic society. So what is the difficulty here?
